C-Towner Girls take Floorball Gold!

On a dreary Friday night, the various blocks gathered at Sheares Hall very own MPSH to compete in floorball girls Inter-Block Games. Eventually, after countless matches, it was C who were crowned champions with 2 wins and 1 draw.

The night started off with Acers facing off the C-Towners. The C girls started the ball rolling by slotting a goal in the early stages of the match. The Acers, undaunted, fought on for an equalizer. Their efforts paid off soon after and they drew with a goal. Unfortunately for the gorgeous Acers, the C-Towners had countless of new freshie floorball talents at their disposal and they soon begun on a scoring spree. The match eventually ended at 5-1 in Block C's favor.

The next match of the night, B vs E was arguably the most exciting match of the night. The first goal was scored by Beeker Bei Han, a RJC floorball defender. It was a shocking goal as she managed to knock in a goal from the other corner of the courts straight into the unguarded Eekers' goal. Unfazed, the Eekers answered with a freshie talent of their own, TJ floorball captain Teresa proved to be capable as she defended against attacks and shot in a goal of her own to make the score even. Of course, with the countless amount of talent both sides have, this was not going to be the end of the game. In the second half, the Beekers regained their lead with a quick goal by Desmy. There was swift reply from Eekers' camp - Yifeng scored a goal 15 seconds later. Another TJ freshie player Luo Wei gave the Eekers their first lead in the game as she scored some time later. Block B, determined not to let Block E win, managed to slot in another goal just before the final whistle was blown. The match ended in 3-3.

Next up, it was finally the Daredevils' turn to play. They were up against the C-Towners who had the most number of floorball girls this year. Block C proved that talent was on their side when they once again started the match with a neat fast goal that flew right into the goal. Nonetheless, the Daredevils had luck on their side instead. Not aiming for the goal, Block D took a wild swing at the ball. To everyone's surprise, the ball managed to skip past all the defenders and ended up in the net. Choruses of "How did that get in?" seem to vibrate amongst the whole MPSH. Talent allowed the C-Towners to call in yet another brillant goal. Sadly for the C-Towners, lady luck shone once again on Daredevils as they managed to score yet another shocking goal to level up the game, ending the match at 2-2.

It was the Acer girls' turn once again. This time round, they faced tough opponents - Block E, the champions of floorball girls last year. Better prepared than the last match, Shirlyne from Block A managed to strike in the first goal that stunned the Eekers. After recovering from the intial shock, Block E proved their mettle by scoring 3 goals of their own. The match ended at 3-1.

The next match will determine who would get into the finals. The Eekers and C-Towners had both won one game and drew one game. On the other hand, the Beekers and Daredevils had drew one game each. If one block could win this game with goals more than the Eekers, they would be able to get into the finals. It was Block B against Block D. For majority of the game, the match was a stalemate as both blocks were playing cautiously against one another. Bei Han from Block B eventually broke the deadlock with a goal late in the second set to seal the victory at 1-0 for the Beekers. Nevertheless, it was a case of too little too late as the score meant that it was the Eekers and C-Towners in the finals.

It was now the finals. Who would triumph? Would it be the Eekers who were champions last year? Or will it be the C-Towners with their many floorball freshies? Luckily for the C-Towners, the Eekers were a weakened side as the TJ captain Teresa had to leave early. Wanqi, the C-Towner freshie who had scored in every single match previously continued her scoring spree by scoring the first goal of the match. Undeterred, freshie talent from Block E Luo Wei evened up the score soon enough. For a prolonged period, both the Eekers and C-Towners just couldn't find the goal. In the end, Block C managed to attack past the Eekers stone defences to slot in the winning goal.

With the goal, Block C successfully won the goal and was crowned the undisputed champions of IBG 10/11.

PS. With the countless of floorball freshie talent I see at Sheares' disposal this year, I see a good campaign for this year Sheares floorball girls during IHG!
