It was an exciting race by the girls as Lynette took an early lead in the first leg of the race. Unfortunately, Blk A's other swimmers were not able to hold on to the lead as potential IHG swimmers from Blk D and C burst ahead to lead the pack in the 2nd and 3rd laps. It was all over in the final lap as Blk C superstar Hui Shan torpedoed to the finish line, completing the race with a gap of at least 4 seconds of runners up Blk D.
Next, it was the men's turn to prove their worth.
Blk A: Sho, Joshua, Dominic, Hajun
Blk B: Liang Jun, William, Chin Liang, Eng Chye
Blk C: Likkhian, Gyanesh, Aloysius, Xiang Long
Blk D: Jia Hui, Justin, Vincent, Zhi Ming
Blk E: Wei Lun, Hui Jie, Ronald, Wei Cong
Winners: Blk B
It was clear Blk B was the powerhouse of this event. Leading convincingly from start to finish, swimmers from blk B consisting of Liang Jun, William, Chin Liang and Eng Chye swept the competition to take home first place with a team timing of 2:32:4 min, almost 10 seconds ahead of counterparts Blk A. Blk E came in third with a time of 2:45:9 min followed by D at 2:54:5 and finally rounding up the rear closely behind is Blk C at 2:55:5.

The third and final event of the day was the 4 x 50 mixed medley.

Another event with clear winners right from the start. Sean Bai led Team Acers with his swimming experience to an early lead. Strong swimmers Michelle and Xing Yue held on to the lead and handed it over to Wynsen to finish off the final lap butterfly style. In Wynsen's struggle to prevent disappointment to his blockmates, he continued his butterfly strokes even after his goggles fell from his eyes to rest firmly on his upper lip (see below). His eyewear malfunction only seemed to boost his speed and determination. Miraculously, in his final few strokes, the goggles popped back into place, allowing him to see the finish line and the gold.

That's all for this years swimming report. Kudos to swimming captains Josheen and Edmund for running a smooth and efficient IBG event. Stay tuned for more reports.
