Doubles Guys
Leonard & Vincent from BLK D vs Joe & Julfri from BLK A.

Starting out calmly, BLK D scored the first score for the night with a gentle flick of the racket from Leonard. Despite this, the freshie team from BLK A persevered on with a huge lot of support from their blockmates and that brought them to a lead in the first half of the match. Nonetheless, with a senior guiding, BLK D proved to be the stronger block that won 21-13.
Guys Singles
Exhilarating match between 2 SWOCs Keith Chong and Kaya with at least 8 strokes per point varying between carefully placed smashes and net plays. A worthwhile game testing wits and skills between both seniors, BLK D proved to be the stronger block with more careful touches winning 21-16.

Second match:
BLK E VS BLK C
The opening singles game on court 2 of the IBG Badminton was between Chen Jia ( Blk E ) vs Kiang (Blk C).
At the end of the game, IVP player Chen Jia proved to be too good for his counterpart, breezing past Kiang 21-7.

In an nervy contest which witnessed both sides going neck to neck for much of the game, it was Hui Jie/ Xia Wei from Block E who surged ahead at the end and take e match to their opponents. 21-7
The women's pairing of Amelia/Xiao Dan from Block E took the game comfortably, 21-11.

Game's over! At this point, it was already Blk E 3 - 0 Blk C
Blk C pairing of Benjamin/Lewis displayed their fighting spirit despite being 0-3 down a to win the 4th game. Final score : Benjamin/Lewis Blk C , 21 - 05 , Blk E Ivan/Basta

Blk C 2nd women's doubles downed Blk E pairing of Pei Yi/Wang Hao 21-13 to triumph at the final game of the match, making the final score a respectable 3-2.
Third match:
BLK A vs BLK B
Strong strokes from both players. Grit and determination seen evidently on court as the 2 seniors battled it out on court.

Doubles guys: 2 freshies vs 2 seniors
The 2 freshies held the court for the first half of the game, B catching up with steadier and more accurate shots from Visoth and drop shots from Zaneth. Credits must also go to Julfri for holding the game with commendable net play.

Doubles girls: Siya’s game ended beautifully with easy moves. 21-8 to BLK B.
Doubles guys:
Highlight of the night- “Miss A Nightgown” Joe never fails to amuse us with his shoe-flying experience and nearly running into spectators (for a half time hug from someone perhaps?) while saving a ball. Despite the drama, BLK B didn’t not waver in their concentration amidst the laughter and won 21-13.

Fourth Match:
Blk E VS Blk D
Blk E's single Xia Wei was in scintillating form and defeated Blk D single's representative effortlessly in a one-sided contest, taking the game 21-6.
In an evenly matched contest at the men's double, Blk D's pairing of 2xKeith edged out Chen Jia/Santa from Blk E to make the match tied at 1 all.

Amelia and Xiao Dan of Blk E once again proved themselves a force to be reckoned with, dominating the game with relative ease. Final score 21-02.
With the overall score tied at 2-1 to Blk E, the 4th game was a do-or-break tie for the Deeblockers. The guys from BLK D did not disappoint their frantic fans sitting at the side of the court and sent the match into a decisive 5th set by winning it 21-15.
With both teams pinning all their hopes on this final game for the chance to enter the finals, the shuttlers were under tremendous pressure to deliver.
A game which lived up to its expectations. With both sides tied at 20 each, the game entered a tie-breaker.

In the end, it was the Eekers who garnered just enough composure to win the deuce 22-20 to send their fans to ecstasy.
Fifth match:
BLK B vs BLK C
Singles Guys: Leo vs “Harry Potter” Xiang Long “Shi Ba Zhang”
Interviewing a satisfied Harry after his game, this was his reply: “It was FUN! And I realised it not about the winning, it’s the camaraderie. I can really feel the block spirit when I heard my block mates cheering for me. You Qing Di Yi, Bi Sai Di Er.” Well said Harry Potter!

Special mention to be made to Ying Ying from BLK C with many countless splits and good saves, and determination. Eventual score: 21-7 to BLK B.

This match featured a good game of “cat-and-mouse” chase of points. With freshies from both sides playing friendly and carefully. Good game guys!

BLK E Vs BLK B
With a handful of IVP players at their disposal, championship favourites Blk B are all raring to clinch the championship. Standing in their way are the championship pretenders from Blk E who are determined to substantiate their reputation as sports block.
1st Game
Clash of Titans: Mixed doubles
Both sides sent on their best players for the 1st game which was a mixed doubles. The duo from Blk B consists of IVP-based Yu He & Siya while the Eekers are represented by Chen Jia and Xiao Dan.
The opening exchanges were tight with both sides adopting a rather cagey approach. It was not long after which the duo from Blk B exhibited their superiority and begin to break ahead. The eekers threatened to make a comeback at times but their efforts were futile as the set ended 21-17 in favor of Blk B.
The 2nd set was virtually a replica of the 1st set and it ended 21-15. Blk B won the mixed doubles in 2 straight sets.
2nd Game
Women's doubles
In the first set, the girls from Blk E could provide little resistance against the mighty Blk B. In the end, the duo from Blk B proved just too good for the girls from Blk E to handle, beating them 21-08 to claim the set.
The Eekers put in a much-improved performance in the 2nd set and led early in the set. Nonetheless, the girls from Blk B soon gained foothold in the contest and eventually defeated their opponents 21-15.
3rd Game
Men's double
With Blk B leading by an overall score of 2-0, the 3rd game could be a decisive one.
Blk B held their nerves and defeated Blk E pairing of Santa/Xia Wei in straight sets once again. The eekers did threaten to come back at some point of time but ran out of steam in the end. 21-14 , 21-13

Blk B won the coveted IBG badminton championship! Worthy winners. Gratz :)
